Do you want to build bridges? Literally! In this Introduction to Bridge Engineering guest lecture we will detail why Bridge Engineering is a specialist field within structural engineering. We will discuss bridge form, function and the unique challenge of spanning large obstacles, while providing robust, durable and aesthetic structures.

Inertia Consulting are a small industry leading bridge engineering consultancy focused on all things related to Bridges and Heavy Civil Structures. We design bridges, assist with installing and building bridges and use specialist access techniques and cutting edge NDT techniques to get up close and personal with Bridges. We work on a range of national projects including the design of new bridge structures and inspection, testing and assessment of existing structures. We are currently working on new footbridge designs and also designing the temporary works required to launch a 3000 tonne bridge, 300m across a valley to land on the other side of the valley to an accuracy of 50mm!
