Committee & Society

The Society

Cambridge University Engineering Society (CUES) is lead by a voluntary committee of students. Some of the services CUES provides:

  • Hackathon and Capture the Flag Events

Free, exclusive events for members to gain first hand experience in solving problems. In Michaelmas 2016, we paired up with ARM and BAE Systems for two exciting occasions (Arm Hackathon and BAE Varsity Capture the Flag), which we gave off all the tickets within 10 minutes!

  • Local and International Trips

A chance to get away from the Cambridge bubble, heavily subsidised and nothing that involves work! We have previously organised trip to places as close as Cambridge Consultants and West Cambridge, and as far as York, Thorpe Park and Hamburg in Germany!

  • Annual Dinner

A more formal affair in a prime location and held at the end of Lent term, the CUES annual dinner brings engineers and friends together for fine food and wine. Last year, we have the biggest and grandest dinner ever being organised by CUES in the Fitzwilliam Museum!

  • Speed Networking and Training Sessions

We realize how important good job placement is, and how stressful it can be for students who are seeking for a good placement. Therefore, we create opportunities to prepare students for job placements after graduation by organising networking sessions, training and CV workshops.

  • Presentations from Industry

Up to twice a week during full term, both at lunchtime and in the evenings, we bring out members speakers form all sectors engineering and beyond. A prime source for job opportunities and to learn about real world projects that are happening now.

  • CUES careers fair

The largest student run fair in Cambridge, featuring some of the biggest names in the industry. Run in Michaelmas Term, this is THE event for placements and job hunting. Take a look at careers fair from Michaelmas 2016 here!

  • Stash

Hoodies and sweatshirts all subsidised and available to our members in Michaelmas term! Sometimes, mugs, pens and bottle openers are all available for free for freshers!

  • The Cambridge Engineer Magazine

A free magazine, written by our members and delivered directly to each and every one each term. We aim to cover the undertakings of student teams, industry and individuals. See more and download issues at our magazine webpage.

  • May-week garden party

The post-exam engineering event, BBQ, live music, strawberrys, pimms and much, much more.
